You will be working with Java, Kotlin and/or C++ on Android, but we believe that a good developer can learn and master any new field. We have humble and really skilled team members that are eager to share their knowledge and help you in any situation.
We believe in skill, not certification. While a good understanding of computer science and the realities of practical software development are a must, titles and diplomas play no role at Opera.
Our organization is flat and we work in tight-knit and iterative processes between product managers, designers, developers and quality assurance engineers. We do code reviews as well as privacy and security reviews to bring the quality of our products to the next level. As a consumer-oriented company, the input from our end users is highly valued. We monitor their feedback closely and improve the product to fit their needs.
This kind of agile workflow requires people with an autonomous working style, who take their own initiatives to improve systems and processes. A high quality product also requires people with a good sense of usability and attention to detail. However, we don’t expect a single team member to possess all of these skills. Instead, we’re looking for dedicated co-workers who are eager to contribute and grow both technically and personally.
Moreover, work-life balance is important to us, and we know that people are creative at different times of the day. You can choose to start early or work late, as long as you are available to your colleagues during core hours, from 10 am - 3 pm.
How does this sound?
Please attach a cover letter and your resume and apply now. We're looking forward to hearing from you!

Opera Mini was created to solve the real problem of making the internet accessible to everyone, regardless of the device they owned or the network they were on. By successfully solving this problem, Opera Mini became the only viable browser choice for hundreds of millions of users around the world. The key to this success was the unique compression technology that, along with a lightweight client, made it possible to load any page on any device while consuming very little resources on the client. Of course, there is no magic - saving resources on the client means using them on servers. How many servers, you may ask? Enough to handle millions of open browser tabs at the same time. However, computing power alone is not enough - you need a group of highly skilled, highly motivated engineers that will tell the machines what to do, and how. That’s where you come in!
We are looking for a Site Reliability Engineer to join our Opera Mini Server Core team. We are a small and independent team of highly skilled engineers in which everyone's contribution matters. Due to the small size of the team and the magnitude of the task at hand, we don’t have strict distinctions between the roles. We do have developers, system administrators and QAs, but everyone is free to make quality contributions to most parts of the system. In our daily work we develop the core services (i.e. infrastructure as software and services), create and improve our tools, upgrade services, debug issues, monitor the health of our systems, test all parts of our infrastructure and most importantly, have a lot of fun.
Are you the one we are looking for?
Are you a highly skilled, highly motivated IT engineer who can work independently? Are you able to understand complex software systems and their minute aspects by reading the source code rather than documentation? Do you enjoy learning and using new esoteric programming languages? Do you have a good knowledge of the Linux Operating System and computer networking? Do you like being given a lot of freedom but understand that it comes with great responsibility? Are you more proud of your contributions than your certificates and diplomas? Do you continuously look for ways to improve, both personally and professionally? If your answers to these questions are yes, then you might be exactly the type of person we are looking for.
Please attach a cover letter and your resume to apply now. We are looking forward to hearing from you.

We are looking for a Backend Developer to join our Opera Mini Server Core team. Have you ever dreamed of making a real impact on the way people communicate? Well, then working at Opera should be exactly right for you! Here, the innovations you create quickly get implemented and delivered to our users. You will work surrounded by supportive colleagues in a flat organizational structure. Short decision-making processes help boost your creativity and drive. We are a small and independent team of highly skilled engineers in which everyone's contribution matters. Due to the small size of the team and the magnitude of the task at hand, we don’t have strict distinctions between the roles.
We are looking for a Software Developer to work on a messaging web service called Hype, that can handle millions of users being online with a throughput of thousands of messages per second.
Are you the one we are looking for?
Are you a highly skilled, highly motivated IT engineer who can work independently?
Are you able to understand how distributed systems work (DHT, clusters, master node selection, etc),?
Are you experienced with evented/event-loop based I/O
Do you enjoy learning and using new esoteric programming languages?
Do you have a good knowledge of the Linux Operating System?
Do you like being given a lot of freedom but understand that it comes with great responsibility?
Are you more proud of your contributions than your certificates and diplomas?
Do you continuously look for ways to improve, both personally and professionally?
Do you have a good communication skills and fluency in English

If your answers to these questions are yes, then you might be exactly the type of person we are looking for.
Please attach a cover letter and your resume to apply now. We are looking forward to hearing from you.

Would you like to join a major internet company located just next door?
How would it be to really make an impact on the way people access the web? At Opera, the innovations you create are quickly implemented and delivered to our users. We have small independent teams who work fast to improve the internet experience of our 380 million users worldwide. We compete with the giants in Silicon Valley.
We are looking for software developers who have the curiosity and drive to join our Android teams.
This means being available online while working remotely, and being at the office once we return.

How would it be to really make an impact on the way people access the web? At Opera, the innovations you create are quickly implemented and delivered to our users. We have small independent teams who work fast to improve the internet experience of our 360 million users worldwide. We compete with the giants in Silicon Valley.
We are looking for a QA Engineer who has the curiosity and drive to join our Android team. You will be testing our product on a wide range of Android devices, from the latest and greatest to cheaper phones with small screens. We are constantly pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved given the user’s network and device capabilities, and you will help us ensure that the user gets the best possible browsing experience.
We believe in skill, not certification. While a good understanding of computer science is a must, titles and diplomas play no role at Opera.
Moreover, work-life balance is important to us, and we know that people are creative at different times of the day. You can choose to start early or work late, as long as you are available to your colleagues either at home or in the office during core hours which are between 10 am - 3 pm.
